This is the day my bucket list got shorter. And fell in love with something super awesome. River dance. In Ireland. WHAAAA. (Yes, my mind was blown, too.)
But that was the end of the day. And unplanned. How I adore spontaneity. It's how I live life. Usually.
But let me start at the end, because it was my favorite. Sorry if you like chronological order, but change is good.
Our coach buss driver Phillip saved our lives with telling us about this show going on, conveniently in our hotel. So after making a few dinner schedule changes, we were able to go, much thanks to Dean Marron and our tour guide, Frank Corr.
I'll start with, IT WAS AMAZING. That's descriptive enough, isn't it? I feel at a loss for words, but I've gotta come up with something.
The show went in a rotation between instrumentals, a male trio of vocals, and about seven river dancers, which included a young boy who looked like he just learned how to read. Wow. So impressive. I've posted a few videos on my Facebook page, if you want to have a look and I can't figure out how to embed video on here at that point.
Traditional Irish music and dance is what we longed for when venturing to Ireland, and that's what we got.
The Irish men on stage weren't too bad, either, might I add. ;)
I walked out and was so excited--I was on a high after soaking in that wonderful show!
Alright, now to order with things.
We started by walking around Cork in the morning. We went to the English Market, which is like a farmers market except an actually buildings with butcher shops. After going in s few stores, we went back so we could be leaving Cork and Issacs Hotel. Along the way, we stopped at s few places in Killarney. We went to a sort of lookout point to look at the lakes of Killarney. It was unbearably cold and windy. My teeth were chattering.
But that view.
After that, we briefly stopped at Killarney National Oark, where there was a gorgeous waterfall. I didn't know nature like this existed in real life.
We got a little wet from the rain, but that's what you sacrifice when looking at the beautiful world God created. Unfathomable.
As if we weren't impressed enough, we went to the Muckross House and Gardens, which serves as a national park. Beautiful all around.
Then we went to the Gleneagle Hotel here in Killarney and ate dinner. After eating like we have the past week, it was less than satisfactory. But I'm not one to dwell on the negative--I'm glad we were able to eat dinner at all! It wasn't half bad. If you complain and dwell in the bad, you miss all of the uplifting and great things around you. And I'm not about that life. Soapbox done.
I had a great day and am excited to discover more of Killarney and the Ring of Kerry tomorrow.
Goodnight and cheers, friends!
Kelli
