Yup, still haven't reorganized my suitcase yet.
Today we headed for Limerick. We made very brief stops along the way, which was only for coffee or pictures. Of course, coffee is now a staple. Haven't you heard? ;)
We visited Kemp Industries in Limerick and talked to one of the head people there in the Ireland headquarters. The software, tech-based company offered us replies to questions about how thei business works and the importance of advertising and social media.
Upon arrival in the city of Limerick, we had time to walk downtown by the shops and get lunch. I stopped at a small cafe, which was pretty good for having a turkey sandwich.
Our next stop was King John's Castle. Yes, the lion in Robin Hood, that King John. The Magna Carta and all that jazz. It was pretty cool! It was more modernized with interactive graphics and displays, so it felt less like a castle than I expected. Especially after having been to Dover Castle in England last year. But it was still great! The castle is very easy to miss--it's not the tallest point and its nestled rightin the city, so it sort of blends in.
There were impersonators and fire jugglers among them.
We later checked into our hotel and after a few emergencies within the group, we headed to Bunratty Castle for our medieval dinner.
We had Meade to start and were entertained by the actors there. We could only use our hands and "dagger" (a knife). We started with soup--that was interesting with no utensils.
We were entertained with song and story thoughtful our meal. Everything was very entertaining and amusing, so it made up for the food not being to-die-for.
It was really awesome to be in an actual castle that hadn't been taken over and modernized too much. It was very 'of the time' so to say. They told stories of the Bunratty banshee and made up scenarios along the way with audience members.
Overall, a very entertaining night!
And tomorrow, the Cliffs of Moher! (Yes, those cliffs, for you Princess Bride fans.)
Cheers!
Kelli
